ALEX CLOSE

Alex Close (b. 1993) is a visual artist and educator from Toronto, Canada with Macedonian heritage. She is interested in contemporary visual communication, perceptual distortions in complex environments, and challenging conventional notions of abstraction. Her diverse body of work reflects influences from international projects, including collaborations with an artist collective and research into virtual collaborative brainstorming. Alex holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from OCAD University (2015), a Master of Fine Art Practice (MLitt) from the Glasgow School of Art (2017), and a Master of Design Research (MDes) from Carleton University (2020). Alex regularly exhibits and participates in artist residencies and exhibitions internationally, including the Narva Art Residency (Estonia), the Muzychi Expanded History Project (Ukraine), and Robert McLaughlin Gallery (Canada). She is currently an instructor at Chengdu University, College of Chinese and ASEAN Arts in Chengdu China.
