Emilie Raud
After studying at the Higher Art School in France, she changed direction to work in the multimedia sector, more specifically ludopedagogy. She then resumed studying and passed a master’s degree in video games and interactive media and pursued a career of video game Art Director during which she took part in the emergence of video games for younger and female audiences. Ten years later, she passed the French National Education’s competitive exams and became an applied arts teacher. She now teaches higher education students drawing, photography and other techniques. As she focussed on handing down knowledge, she realised how necessary and vital it was for her to return to intensively practicing her art. Since 2018 her artistic practice has been a daily commitment. In the meantime, Covid and the lockdown have changed our lives as well as her drawing habits. Online sketching sessions from living models have enabled her to travel across the world (London, New York, Berlin, Amsterdam…), any day at any time, to choose committed models and organisations, and to draw non-standard bodies. She favours working with activist, non-binary, queer, LGBTQIA+ models, and people who are keen to consider all kinds of bodies as valid.
