Jeanmarie Weatherhead
I’m Jeanmarie Weatherhead, an emerging contemporary artist based in T’karonto and born in Guatemala. My artistic practice portrays the Anthropocenic reality of the more horrific parts of the modern age featuring my personal experience including the environment, mental health, culture, social/political agency, and gender roles. I majored in drawing & painting at the Ontario College of Art and Design and recently graduated with a BFA degree from OCADU 2020. My artwork is based on spiritual reality or a dream-like state. The process of critical emotions such as anger, guilt, sadness, grief, and even happiness into a painting. In reality, to cope with such emotions is to paint the horrors of the modern age.
