Jiachen Zeng
Jiachen Zeng's works are mainly installations, paintings and drawings that involve performative and interactive elements. Her artistic attention is always about boundaries. She expands on different materials by finding, breaking, or connecting those boundaries to interlock or interrupt the existing balanced ecologies of daily occurrences, which include relationships between people, unforgettable memories, and fetishes about meaningful objects. Mermer is a series of paintings and installations of one and multiple black-and-white character figures. The artist sees them as “Me-er” (Self), “Middle-er”(in-between), “Meme-er”(Society). It seems very peaceful, but it also seems very noisy; it seems far away and strange, but it also seems very close and comfortable; it seems like cold rumours, but it also feels like gentle whispers.
