Lydia Baker
A need for a constructive escapism led me to create my current body of work, which simultaneously explores ideas of harmony and the unknown. As I draw with colored pencils on paper, I immerse myself in different worlds, offering the viewer a point of departure from reality. These particular drawings are part of a larger series called Space, which originated from feelings of detachment and separation, and then spiraled into fantasies of togetherness and consciousness after death. Ranging from 6 x 8 in – 9 x 12 in, these small-scale drawings break down the vastness of the cosmos into digestible bits of magic.
