Jeroen Duijf
Jeroen Duijf, 1988, was born in Blerick, the Netherlands. As a kind of crossover between explorer and pirate, Jeroen discovers the extremes of art and his experience in his own way. He is averse to current traditions, even though he knows them. The result are heroic and at the same time humorous paintings. Jeroen moves effortlessly and playfully between images that refer to contemporary pop culture and iconographic themes from seventeenth-century still lifes, rich in symbolism. With humor and reference to images of "living" toys from the animated film Toy Story, Jeroen gives a contemporary shape to these age-old subjects. This playfulness, spontaneity and love for painting characterize his work. Duijf studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg, the Netherlands. In addition to being an artist, Duijf works at a school as an art teacher. Duijf's paintings are exhibited at art fairs, galleries and museums. His work is included in various private collections.
