Llinos Owen
Llinos Owen (b.1998) is a Welsh Fine Art Textiles artist, currently based and works between North Wales and South London after recently graduating from Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL) with a BA Fine Art Degree. Owen's textile art practice explores the female figure and portraiture through the mediums of rug hooking and hand embroidery to create wall tapestries inspired by the themes of identity, autobiography, youth culture, and storytelling. Owen's textile wall hangings often references her Welsh heritage and influential life experiences inspired by personal imagery and writing such as diary entries, illustrations and photographs which explores the relationship between the narrative and self. Identity and gender are important themes within Owen's practice as the materials and techniques she explores acknowledges the history of feminine identities by focusing on historically women dominated craft, which blurs the lines between the domestic, the mundane and the gallery space.
