Allison Green

Allison Green grew up in rural Vermont and arrived in NYC as a recent postgrad art history BA 2016. Taught sewing and fiber work by both her New England neighbors and her Bronx-raised family, practicing art in New York has been her way of continuing to explore traditional techniques, and celebrating her multifaceted heritage of working women and textiles. Green has worked primarily as a costume maker and prop fabricator for stage, screen, and installation. She has constructed costumes and crafts for eight Broadway productions, costumed and sculpted for the past three seasons of Sesame Street, and created scenic art for the Macy's Herald Square holiday windows.

Green maintains a research-based practice as an artist and art historical writer. She has published reviews in The Brooklyn Rail, Tussle Magazine, and a forthcoming piece for an essay collection by The Art Students League of New York. She has exhibited work at Collar Works (Troy NY), Women Made Gallery (Chicago IL), EDEN Studio (Chelsea NYC), and independent galleries. In 2023 she was a sculpting resident at the Vermont Studio Center and a recipient of the Nessa Cohen Sculpture Grant through The Art Students League of New York, where she continues to attend classes on scholarship.
