Carolina Trinker
NYC-based textile artist & designer Carolina Trinker finds endless possibilities in textiles as an expression of linguistics and encoded identity. A multilingual Austrian-Brazilian artist, she enjoys finding language at her fingertips. Trinker fuses many forms of craft, from mechanical machine knitting to ceramics and digital embroidery. She has a passion for multi-disciplinary collaboration, bringing many artists into her world of craft in media ranging from augmented reality animation to music and dance.
Carolina obtained a BFA in Fashion Design (2021) and an MFA in Textiles (2023) at Parsons School of Design. She was selected as a finalist with her MØTHERBØARD piece for the 2022 Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize and subsequently featured in Talking Textiles magazine. In 2023, Carolina presented her EMBRYØ series at the Parsons MFA Textiles graduate show, PORTAL, and at a collaborative exhibition hosted by MŌCANA at LINES New York. The series was then shown at De Fabriek during Dutch Design Week 2023 (Eindhoven, Netherlands), and won the Fashion Communications prize for Artsthread’s 2023 Global Design Graduate Show in collaboration with Gucci. It was also included in Field Projects’ online exhibition, To Know the Earth Through Roots.
