Cristina Bowes

In 2011, Cristina’s passion for oil painting began when a close friend invited her to join her in her studio to paint. This interaction left her with a desire to dive deeper into the creative world of oil painting. Over the years, she continued to paint, but gradually realized she wanted to pursue a painting career. In 2021, Cristina embarked on a journey to develop her skills by enrolling in art lessons, immersing herself in galleries, reading books on art, and seeking inspiration from all facets of life. At present, her time is devoted to creating distinctive pieces of artwork in her personal studio, attending art exhibitions, and connecting with fellow artists. Cristina lives in Colorado with her husband and three children.

I create one of a kind oil abstract paintings using a balance between color, movement, and composition. My goal is to create something that is not only visually stunning but also has a deeper meaning and connection to the viewer. There is a zen-like meditative state while painting and where inspiration flows. Getting to this state of mind helps me get lost in the painting, and allows me to express any emotions that are brought up while working. I think it is important to create art that is authentic and true to your own experiences and emotions, and my art reflects this belief. I do not use sources for reference, making each piece unique in its own way. I simply start with a chosen color palette, then add a base color to the canvas, and slowly the painting morphs into something of its own, guiding me to the next brushstroke or palette knife marking.
