Francisco Palomares
My work is a visual diary presenting narratives that emanate the beauty of struggles in an ever changing environment. Although my work doesn’t take on a specific political agenda, I draw from lived experiences calling forth revealing parts of memory, history and culture. In my approach to making art; public, performance, and curatorial, my intention is to invite viewers to be co-narrators in the shared spaces I create, physically or metaphorically.
My work ranges from the context of the streets to galleries, community projects and participatory action research. Reflecting on my childhood neighborhood of East Los Angeles —overlooked, unseen or unheard--I bring to life the heart and soul of Los Angeles. My work is a bridge connecting different worldviews facilitating dialogue between the viewer and the subjects I paint.
