Gina McCloskey
Gina is a Canadian painter who resides in the town of Gilford, Ontario. Inspired by the shores of Lake Simcoe, the trees and the natural flora and fauna of the area, she explores the fantastic and the mystical in the world around her.
Gina carries a diploma in Fine Arts Advanced with Honours from Georgian College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree from Thompson Rivers University and a diploma in Interior Decorating from Humber College. Gina has been featured on online art platforms and has received several awards for her paintings.
The act of creating a painting is a prayer of surrender for me. Derived from dreams and scrying natural objects, a plethora of archetypes and symbols become my healing resources. I often paint repetitive layers that reflect the movement of a sinuous dance. Anthropomorphic characters materialize that feel archaic and ancient. Rooted in the subconscious, these mysterious and humorous images flow spontaneously onto the canvas in bizarre allegories, all guiding me toward a much larger surrender.
