Hannah Rothbard
My work explores the capacity and limits of built space as a container— for beauty, growth, culture, and comfort. I draw inspiration from floor plans, maps, and my own surroundings, like the artful tree guards that encase moments of nature in man-made metropolises, or windows that allow outside to seep in. It starts with a collection: catalogs from my Grandma, Playbills from friends, and Architectural Digest from neighbors. Combining collected paper with painting, mixed media collage, and image transfer, I craft compositions with the viscerality and nuance of memories.
