Jessica Pliez
A blend between photography & two-headed bears, Jessica Pliez - born in 1984 - is a plastic artist who is juggling numerous techniques : pencils, analogue photography, cotton paper, paints & inks, acrylic or oil. In her studio, she explores childhood terrors, pagan bestiaries, human portraits, with a gouge or a pen, on a copper plate, on linoleum or rubber (regardless of if the support is designed for art or found on a street). The world she is presenting to us is made from pieces of her heart, stitched flesh that braid into a detailed universe halfway between sweetness & brutality. Everything is moving, everything is throbbing in these bodies between life and death.
