Judy Gee

My work explores my curiosity and observations of our often conflicting internal and external lives. My work tends to present darker subjects in a playful and at times sarcastic tone, making these subjects more accessible and perhaps relatable. We often hide under false facades. The seemingly innocent, beautiful, luscious donut can mask a painful internal struggle. Every day details and textures are woven in as references to evoke the nostalgic past merging with ever shifting identities and changes we all inevitably experience. Celebrating the ordinary as beautiful. Rain and Rust textures can tell a dignified story of graceful aging and metamorphosis. Permanent impermanence. I belong everywhere and no where.
