Mark Engel
lleny Gherghe (b.1994, Romania), is a contemporary artist living and working in Sotogrande, Spain. She graduated from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, mural painting department in 2016. Her works rely on the beauty of nature to portray a woman as an archetype of a bygone era, seemingly desiring to escape from the assigned role and merge with vegetation and animals in pursuit of a possibly kinder existence. The solitude, tranquillity, and subtle blend of human, animal, and nature in her paintings, evoke the spectral halo typical of currents directly influenced by historical surrealism. Delving into her own experiences and the rich tapestry of her homeland, she offers us a window into a world where the call for empathy with the natural environment, becomes not only essential but urgent. Elleny's works have been exhibited internationally and are part of private collections in countries such as Romania, Germany, Spain, Gibraltar, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Indonesia, the Netherlands and the USA. https://www.elleny.art/
